Passionate of Care

Amanda Zuchelli and Bob Speelman

October 30, 2019

NOTE: This story was taken from the blog of Foundations Health Solutions leader Bob Speelman. Each week Bob works at one of our Foundations Health facilities in different roles. Whether working in housekeeping or as a nursing assistant, he sees firsthand how we embody the vision of our founder and nursing home developer, Brian Colleran, to be "A Culture of Care."

I spent the day at Riverview Pointe, our 101-bed facility in Olmsted Falls yesterday. Mallory Fitzsimmons is the administrator there. She has done an absolutely incredible job building a team of caregivers and developing a Culture of Care. From the minute you walk in the door till the time you leave Riverview Pointe, you are greeted with smiles and a warmth that comes from the heart. You can absolutely tell this team loves each other and loves making a difference in the lives of their residents.

One of those incredible Care Team members was Amanda Zuchelli. Amanda is 35 and has been an STNA for 10 years. Her warm and energetic personality makes you feel at ease from the moment you meet her. Amanda has two stepsons and a 12-year-old son of her own. Amanda's dad stays with her, she helps take care of him, she almost helps take care of her Grandmother, and she takes care of the residents on the rehab unit at Riverview Pointe. She is a natural caregiver and we are so lucky to have her on our team.

The entire day I was blown away by the other members of the team, every nurse I met was upbeat and positive, the other STNA's I met on and off the unit were smiling. You could tell they loved being a part of this team. The managers and department heads were constantly out in the buildings talking to residents and staff. It completely felt like a family and if I could create a building that was the perfect reflection of our Culture of Care, I would call it Riverview Pointe.

"Working hard for something we don't care about is called stress.

Working hard for something we love is called passion."

Simon Sinek

Mallory, Amanda, and the entire team at Riverview – I could not have been more encouraged leaving Riverview and having spent the day with your Care Team. Your passion for care was tangible and I saw it on the face of every Care Team member. Keep making a difference and keep promoting our Culture of Care.

Bob Speelman, STNA

Each week, Bob Speelman visits a Foundations Health Solutions nursing home. He works alongside a variety of departments to ensure Foundations Health is excelling in the vision of founder Brian Colleran's "Culture of Care." Foundations Health continues to practice the principles nursing home developer Brian Colleran instilled, such as resident and family satisfaction, positive employee culture, and investment in the community.
